1432 the European bike components manufacturer
1432 designs, manufactures and delivers custom components and subassemblies for european bike manufacturers, with a short supply chain, re-establishing local industrial strengh.
1432: A HUMAN AND INDUSTRIAL ADVENTURE
At the end of 2020, Luc and Jean-Christophe spoke of their desire to combine a passion for cycling with an entrepreneurial adventure.
They have observed that bike production in Europe is growing, particularly to support the boom in urban and utility bikes, but that components are still mainly sourced from Asia.
The idea was born in 2020: Creating the bike components equipment manufacturer that the industry needs on the European continent.
They have enjoyed Gilles Lapierre’s support from the outset.
A STORY OF SUSTAINABLE REINDUSTRIALIZATION TO BE WRITTEN TO STRENGTHEN THE BIKE INDUSTRY
We believe that the current bike model is reaching its limits. While more and more bike manufacturers and brands are choosing to produce in Europe, the European supply of components is still limited: 90% of bike components come from Asia.
This creates difficulties for European bike manufacturers:
- Long and unpredictable supply cycles, leading to overstocking,
- Remote customer/supplier relationships that are not conducive to innovation,
- Lack of traceability
- Poor environmental and social impact…
1432 was founded in early 2023 with a strong ambition:
To become the leading European equipment manufacturer in the bike world,
changing the rules of the game in the world of components.
Our challenge: to (re)develop components that are suited to today’s uses, reliable, high-performance, and sustainable, and to rethink production processes in Europe to ensure the economic competitiveness expected by bike manufacturers.
1432, an ALTITUDE, but also an ATTITUDE
1432 is the altitude of Crêt de la Perdrix, the highest point of the Pilat massif, a natural park located between Lyon and Saint-Etienne, in France.
It is a reference to the region’s industrial history in the bicycle industry, inviting us to think about the future of the industry without forgetting our history.
1432 meters symbolizes height, new perspectives, impactful commitments, and a strong connection to the Saint-Étienne region, the historic birthplace of the bicycle.
1432, committed to reduce its impact
“When we created 1432, we made a commitment to relocate the design and manufacturing of components for the bicycle industry to Europe, but above all to create a company that reflects society and takes into account major social and environmental issues.”
To embed our commitments in our governance and actions, we have chosen to pursue the B Corp certification. This movement seemed to us to be in line with our philosophy, but also one that will challenge us the most to make 1432 a company ahead of its time.
We have been a mission-driven company since June 2024.

Eco-design, transparency, and traceability
Eco-design guides us through every stage of the development and industrialization of our components in order to minimize the environmental and social impact of our products and our business.
A life cycle analysis is carried out systematically.
We are committed to transparency and provide data on the impact of our products and traceability information.
An overview of our actions: Short supply chains, recycled materials to reduce the impact of material extraction, topology optimization to reduce the amount of material used, optimized packaging eliminating individual plastic wrapping…
customized industrial solutions
1432 has implemented an industrial equipment manufacturer model that combines competitiveness, quality, and customization:
A highly automated manufacturing process
A network of local partners covering a wide range of technologies (forging, machining, turning, injection molding, extrusion, bending, surface treatments, etc.)
In-house assembly, quality control, and packaging operations
With the help of technology partners such as Siemens and SAP, 1432 draws inspiration from other industries to develop customized industrial solutions for the world of bike components.
MANAGEMENT TEAM
PASSIONATE ABOUT CYCLING, BUT NOT ONLY THAT!
With complementary experiences, our team is relocating the design and manufacture of bike components, in order to offer bike manufacturers a premium, local, and sustainable alternative. It is building an industrial company in tune with the times and connected to its region.

From the blue folding two-wheelers of his childhood to road racing, Luc caught the cycling .
After starting out in the industry sector, Luc managed transformation projects, set up, developped and grow consulting and IT companies over a period of twenty years. He then went on to advise senior executives on their growth operations.
Driven by the desire to combine his passion for cycling with his professional life, Luc and Jean-Christophe sketched out a project for a cycling equipment manufacturer. He now runs 1432.
